- Peer Support & Accompaniment
Sanad offers community-based support to trans individuals navigating legal and medical systems. This may involve understanding a procedure, preparing documents, or identifying safer, more affirming pathways to care.
We do not provide direct legal or medical services ourselves, and we are not a hotline or counseling line. Instead, we offer sustained, thoughtful accompaniment grounded in peer knowledge, lived experience, and collective care.
Accompaniment at Sanad can include:
- Sharing reliable information in formats tailored to different needs and contexts.
- Referring community members to specialized doctors, NGOs, and experienced peers, where possible.
- Preparing together for legal or medical processes by mapping out questions, steps, expectations, gathering the required documentation, understanding the different procedures at hand and the specialized language used.
- Supporting individuals through common concerns such as documentation barriers, discrimination, or complex legal/medical procedures based on the team’s capacity.
- Supporting individuals through common concerns such as documentation barriers, discrimination, or complex legal/medical procedures based on the team’s capacity.
- Being present, when possible, at a medical or legal appointment for accompaniment if needed.
This work is about presence and preparation. It is about walking alongside each other to make space for confidence, clarity, and care in systems that too often isolate or harm us.
Other important information to note about Sanad and this program:
